LD50 is the quantity of a material, data of only one feature, which causes the death of 50% (a half) of a group of animals of test. The LD50 is with single direction to measure the short-term potential of poisoning (acute toxicity) of a material. The toxicologists can employ much kinds of animals but generally the test is carried out with rats and mice. It is usually expressed while the quantity of chemical managed (for example, of the milligrams) by 100 grams (for smaller animals) or per kilogramme (for greater experimental subjects) of the body weight of the animal of test.
